El Chapo’s Wife’s Plea Deal After Being Arrested

El Chapo’s wife’ was listening silently as prosecutors explained how they could prove her illegal activity if she decided to go to trial. “Yes,” she replied through a translator when asked by the judge if she had actually done the crimes the government described.

Emma Coronel Aispuro possibly faced up to life in prison for the drug distribution charge while the other two counts against her carry prison terms of about 20 years and 10 years, each.

Coronel Aispuro’s attorney, Jeffrey Lichtman, claimed outside the courthouse that, “She is very happy to put this behind her. She didn’t expect to get arrested after her husband received life in prison. So, this is obviously a troubling time. But we’re going to get past it.”

According to prosecutors Coronel Aispuro “worked closely with the command-and-control structure” of the Sinaloa cartel and planned to order large amounts of drugs, while she knew they would be smuggled into the United States.

Drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s beauty-queen wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro, was arrested Monday at an airport in Virginia due to her bold involvement in international drug trafficking.

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera is the leader of a Mexican drug trafficking organization known as the Sinaloa Cartel, and now it seems his 31-year-old wife’s history is not purer than his own.

Her controversial husband, infamous Guzman Loera, was convicted in 2019 on ten charges of engaging in a continual criminal enterprise and several counts of distributing tons of cocaine into the US. He was sentenced to life in jail for +30 years.

However, we can not prejudge El Chapo’s wife. A criminal accusation is only an allegation, and all defendants are considered innocent till proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
