Police Investigate Raiders’ Henry Ruggs’s Fatal DUI Car Crash


Las Vegas police are investigating Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs’s DUI car crash that happened on early Tuesday (November 2, 2021) in Las Vegas, leaving one person dead.

According to the latest reports, police are going to charge the star Henry was involved in a fiery DUI crash with driving under the influence resulting in a heartbreaking death.

Officers reportedly responded to a traffic accident early Tuesday morning between a Toyota and a Chevrolet. A dead body of the victim was located inside the Toyota, which was burning on fire, and Ruggs, who police state showed signs of impairment, was recognized as the driver of the Chevrolet.

The crash was reported at approximately 3:39 a.m. at Rainbow Boulevard and Spring Valley Parkway South, north of Tropicana Avenue, based on what the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said.

Ruggs’ attorneys reacted to the incident, writing in a statement, “On behalf of our client Henry Ruggs III we are conducting our own investigation as of this writing and ask everyone to reserve judgment until all the facts are gathered.”

The NFL and the Raiders additionally shared a statement following the DUI car crash: “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim of this horrific tragedy. We will continue to gather facts and monitor the matter under our policies, but our thoughts at this time are with those impacted by this devastating incident.”

In his second season with the Raiders, Henry chose him 12th overall in the 2020 NFL draft. During seven games in 2021, he has made 24 passes for a team-high 469 yards and two touchdowns.

After the accident on Tuesday morning, Ruggs and a female passenger inside the crashed Chevrolet Corvette were hospitalized at University Medical Center with no severe injuries.

No word on if authorities believe alcohol or drugs played a factor in the accident. It’s still unclear what Ruggs’ condition is. There is a local report that says there was at least one fatality in the crash.

Police announced one person, identified as a woman, was discovered dead inside the Toyota. The Clark County coroner’s office is expected to reveal that person’s identity once relatives have been notified.
