Several fans, friends, and supporters reacted and stated their condolences on social media websites following this tragic news.

Ivan Matias added: “We went to school together and had no idea that soon after, we’d be brought together as partners, co-writers, and friends for decades into adulthood. She brought out the best in me and everyone she worked with. We laughed, cried, fought, and loved fiercely. She was a blessing to everyone around her in ways no one will ever know. She taught me about life, love, loyalty, and of course music. Her musical genius lives on in the songs she contributed to the soundtrack of our lives. Laguardia High School Alumni. Extraordinary Singer/Songwriter. She was one of a kind. The most talented female writer I’ve ever known. Her passion for music and musical instinct remains unmatched.”

An online user commented: “Ivan… I am deeply sorry and hurt… I interviewed her and wrote the cover story for Urban Network when her album, The Best of Me, was released – in my personal Top 10 albums for 1998. My co-worker Christina and I totally bonded over it – quality through and through. What a voice… what a songwriter… and what a sweet, soulful woman. The world really lost one today. Utmost Respect.”
