With the most profound sorrow, we have to inform you of the heartbreaking news which follows Andrew Woolfolk’s cause of death. He passed away, announced officially on April 26, 2022, at the age of 71, due to a long-term illness.

Born on October 11, 1950, the legendary saxophonist. Woolfolk was a longtime member of the band called Earth, Wind & Fire from 1973 to 1985 and from 1987 to 1993. Putting that experience aside, he also collaborated with artists such as Deniece Williams, Level 42, and so many others.

To know a little about his personal life, he attended East High School in Denver, Colorado. He joined the band Earth, Wind & Fire as a saxophonist in 1972 and played next to the other members for a long time.

M. Woolfolk was also a part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Earth, Wind & Fire in 2000. Woolfolk was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame back in 2017.

Besides mentioning his masterpiece works with EW&F, Mr. Woolfolk played the saxophone on Just a Stone’s Throw Away, 1977 Valerie Carter’s album, Song Bird which was Deniece Williams‘ 1977 LP.

He also played for Best of Friends, Twennynine’s 1979 album, and Tender Togetherness which is considered to be Stanley Turrentine‘s 1981 LP. Noted, with Woolfolk as a member, Earth, Wind & Fire received six Grammy awards.

Earth, Wind & Fire gained many of their well-known hits during Woolfolk’s time with the band, including “Shining Star,” “Sing a Song, “Got to Get You into My Life,” “September,” “Boogie Wonderland,” “After the Love has Gone,” and “Let’s Groove,” among others.

Andrew Woolfolk’s Cause of Death; World Mourns

Following Andrew Woolfolk’s cause of death, it is shared that the legend was battling for six years with an unknown illness. He passed away on Sunday.

Earth, Wind & Fire vocalist, Philip Bailey, expressed: “I met him in High School, and we quickly became friends and bandmates. Andrew Paul Woolfolk was his name. We lost him today, after being ill for over 6 years.”

Deadline Hollywood announced: “Andrew Woolfolk, who played saxophone for Grammy-winning R&B band Earth, Wind & Fire during its 1970s and early-’80s heyday, has died after a long illness. He was 71. EWF’s Philip Bailey announced the news on social media.”

Brandon Williams tribute: “Rest well, Andrew Woolfolk. Saxophonist for Earth, Wind & Fire’s classic period. One of my absolute favorites because he made every note count. You may not know his face or his name, but he was an integral part of THE sound. Wow… Thank you for the music, brother.”

One commented: “Andrew Woolfolk, the legendary saxophonist whose screaming solos for the genre-defying group Earth, Wind & Fire would reliably bring the house down throughout the 1970s, died on Sunday at age 71, according to a bandmate.”

Lorraine King wrote: “RIP Andrew Woolfolk (October 11, 1950 – April 24, 2022) – saxophonist from Earth, Wind, and Fire I’ll be paying tribute to Andrew by playing an hour of EWF tracks on my vinyl-only show on Colourful Radio this Saturday If there’s an EWF track you’d like to hear let me know.”
