Bert Prentice’s Cause of Death After Battling Cancer


Bert Prentice’s cause of death has not been officially confirmed by his family, but some sources revealed that the Memphis wrestling star died after battling cancer.

American wrestling Star Bert Prentice died on August 4, 2021, at the age of 62. The sad news was revealed by his heartbroken family via a Facebook page.

Before his death, Prentice notad on Facebook on Monday morning that his sister was to take over the USA Wrestling day-to-day operations so he could focus more on his cancer treatments and rehabilitation.

“Effective today, my sister Marilyn will manage the day-to-day operations of USA wrestling. As I continue to manage my cancer treatments and rehabilitation, Prentice wrote on Monday morning. “I so appreciate all USA staff and talent, fans, and thousands of friends who have reached out to me with care and love.”

His family announced on Bert’s Facebook page today that a public viewing for friends and fans will be held on Sunday, August 8, at the George Smith Funeral Chapel on North Highland Road in Jackson, Tennessee, from 4-6 pm. They also announced that a private family service will be held at a later date.

USA Championship Wrestling also shared the heartbreaking news of Bert Prentice’s death on Twitter. “It is with a heavy heart that USA Championship Wrestling announces the passing of our leader, our family, & our friend Bert Prentice.”

“He will be greatly missed by all that knew him, as well as the lives he touch over the years though wrestling and his philanthropic endeavors for the children. Rest in Peace, our dear friend,” the statement read.

Impact released a statement on Bert’s death today and paid a touching tribute to the USA Championship Wrestling owner.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bert Prentice – who was involved in the very early days of TNA and was the host of Xplosion alongside Jeremy Borash. We offer our sincere condolences to his friends and family,” Impact wrote.

What was Bert Prentice’s Cause of Death?

Prentice was born in 1958 and was the youngest of ten children and. Prentice was exposed to the industry as early as six years while his mother was working the box office for Verne Gagne and other groups in the Midwest.

He had been ruuning his USA Wrestling promotion in Tennessee during recent years. Prentice also was active in the Memphis area as a manager and promoter.

The longtime promoter originally debuted for USWA back in 1991. Bert worked with numerous legends and WWE Hall of Famers, including Owen Hart, Bret Hart, Jacqueline Moore, Jerry Lawler, and many others. He also played a big role in the early days of TNA/Impact Wrestling.

Soon after the heartbreaking news of Bert Prentice’s death came out, his friends and fans paid poignant tributes to him and spread their condolence through social media.

Jeremy Borash wrote on his Twitter account: “Bert was a wonderful friend and a pure joy to work with. Always made me laugh. The years we worked together hosting Xplosion during the early days of TNA are great memories. My condolences to his family on this loss.”

Dixie Carter tweeted: “I’ve not been able to get Bob Ryder off my mind today, and now to hear about Bert. Bert was a staple at the #Asylum in our early days. Rest easy, Bert, and thanks for all you did for @IMPACTWRESTLING. Sending love and prayers to your family.”

“I just got the horrible news that my dear friend Bert Prentice has passed away,” Kenny Bolin tweeted. “We thought the world of each other and communicated on Facebook every week. We were working on getting him on my show, but then he got sick. I heard he was doing better, so this news shocks me. RIP Bert.”
