British-born Australian Actress Carol Raye’s Death at 99

With the deepest sorrow, we inform you that Actress and producer Carol Raye’s death was announced on Sunday night June 19, 2022. She was best known for her roles in The Young Doctors, Number 96, and SeaChange. Raye left us at the age of 99.
She was born on January 17, 1923, in London, England. Her real name is Kathleen Mary Corkery but people know her as Carol Raye. Carol Raye was an Australian actress who was born in the United Kingdom.
In the 1970s, the thing that made her face well-known was her appearances on Graham Kennedy’s Blankety Blanks and The Mike Walsh Show. At the age of 16, she began her career as a dancer when she was In London.

Raye had great and magnificent honors during her career and one of them is a Member of the Order of Australia which she was named in Queen’s Birthday Honours, in 2022, with the citation “For contribution to the performing arts as an actress and producer.”

Carol added: ”I’d just come from England and was very influenced by a show that was a huge success in London, That Was The Week That Was with David Frost.”

Raye was a talented woman who was a comedian, singer, dancer, radio and television producer, and director, as well as a TV network assistant. The star played Baroness Amanda von Pappenburg while she was a standout on the racy soap opera Number 96.
There is no specific information about Carol Raye’s death reason or any story behind it. Also, no details were reported about her health condition during her life.

She was married to veterinarian Robert Ayre Smith and in 1964, she immigrated to Australia with him, while she was well-known in the UK as a film and theatrical star. Before that on November 3, 1945, she was married to U.S. Army Engineer Captain Clark Spencer.
After divorcing Spencer, she married Smith in 1951. They had three children, two of whom followed their mother into theatrical roles. Her eldest child, Sally Ayre Smith, is best known for the ABC series SeaChange and her youngest daughter, Harriet, is an actress too and started her career in the Sydney Theatre Company office.
