It’s with the most profound sorrow to inform you on December 16, 2021, that Wilkinson Eyre Founder and leading British architect, has passed away; Stay to learn if Chris Wilkinson’s cause of death has been clarified yet.
Mr. Wilkinson, well-known as the co-founder of WilkinsonEyre, has designed the Stirling Prize-winning Magna Science Centre. He had also founded Chris Wilkinson Architects back in 1983.
Mr. Wilkinson had headed up the practice when his former colleague Jim Eyre became a partner until 1987. It led the pair to establish WilkinsonEyre in 1999.
The Stratford Market Depot was his earliest project in which recognition of his contribution to architecture, Wilkinson achieved an OBE in the Millennium Honours List.

Not to mention that the talented architect was the recipient of an Honorary Fellowship of the American Institute of Architecture in 2007, besides holding honorary doctorates from Westminster University and Oxford Brookes University.
He has also received back-to-back RIBA Stirling Prizes in 2001 for the Magna Science Centre and another for the Gateshead Millennium Bridge back in 2002. May he rest in peace and love.

Chris Wilkinson’s Cause of Death Is Behind Shadows
Not a lot has been shared from a close or reliable source, clarifying Chris Wilkinson’s cause of death; however, it’s shared that he passed away at the age of 76 years old on December 14, 2021.
It was announced on WilkinsonEyre‘s Twitter: “It is with deep sadness that WilkinsonEyre announces the death of Chris Wilkinson on the 14 December. Our thoughts are with his family, who has requested privacy at this time.”
Another thing that you might not have known, the key projects by WilkinsonEyre, along with the Magna Science Centre and Gateshead Millennium Bridge, include the Mary Rose Museum and the Stratford Market Depot in England and the National Waterfront Museum Swansea in Wales.
Not only does it complete the Guangzhou International Finance Center in China, but also one Barangaroo in Australia, as well as Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, which Wilkinson discussed in a video with Dezeen during the World Architecture Festival 2012.
Noted, the firm has accumulated a portfolio of acclaimed works, including the Gasholders in London, the Guangzhou International Finance Center in China, and the One Barangaroo tower in Sydney over the past 22 years.

Royal Academy shared as well: “We are sad to hear of the death of Chris Wilkinson OBE RA on the 14 December. He was a gifted architect and devoted Royal Academician. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
