CL’s Mother Cause of Death Reported as Heart Attack
K-pop star CL’s cause of death was clarified after she suddenly passed away on Jan. 23 at the age of 53 and now the singer thankes her fans for their support.
On Feb. 10, CL’s agency, Team Very Cherry, declared, “CL’s mother, Hong Yoo Ra, who was living abroad at the time, passed away due to a heart attack at age 53 on January 23.”
The agency added at that time, “The funeral will take place for three days starting February 10 and the burial will take place on February 12. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the funeral will be held quietly with only family and close friends in attendance.”
The statement also said, “Please send CL messages of comfort and encouragement. May the deceased rest in peace. Thank you.”

K-pop star CL, whose mother passed away on Jan. 23, thanked her fans Wednesday by uploading a post on her Instagram account, which has been disabled since her mother’s passing.
“Thank you for giving me light during one of the most difficult times of my life, with all of your kind words and the outpouring of love,” wrote CL, a former member of K-pop girl group 2NE1.
“My mother, the most brave, selfless, and giving person I know, will continue to live on through me with everything she has taught me.”
CL captioned her post in both English and Korean. She asked god her mother to watch over her and her sister.
