French Pianist Claude Kahn Unfortunately Passed Away

Internationally renowned French classical pianist sadly passed away in the night from Thursday to Friday (November 17, 2023), at the age of 88.

Claude Kahn, the well-known concert performer, took his last breath in Vallauris (Alpes-Maritimes), Agence France-Presse learned from his entourage.

It was in 1970 that an international piano competition was created in his name, which still exists today. Born in Marseille, a gifted child, he notably followed the teaching of Nadia Boulanger, a monument of clinical music. The pianist had more than 2,000 concerts to his credit around the world.

While there is no information about the cause of death at this time, some rumors claim Claude Kahn passed away from an illness he had been suffering from recently.
Claude Kahn released more than twenty albums in his life which he dedicated to Chopin, his favorite composer. Claude Kahn founded a piano competition titled the Claude Kahn International Piano Competition which gained global recognition in the year 1980.

Among his distinctions, Claude Kahn notably received the prize for best interpretation at the Franz Liszt competition in Budapest.
On almost thirty discs, he has recorded works by composers such as Liszt, Chopin, Fauré, Debussy, Ravel, Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, and Rachmaninov.
