Reactions to Clifford Rose’s Death

Several fans, friends, and supporters reacted and stated their condolences on social media websites following this tragic news.

One of his fans wrote: “So dear #CliffordRose has gone. I met him many times, perhaps most memorably, when he temporarily gave me possession of Kessler’s family photo album so that I might scan its contents. An incredibly kind and warm man. The very opposite of his most famous role. I last spoke to him a yr ago for what I now realize may be his last interviews abt #SecretArmy & #DoctorWho. That Secret Army interview, while his memories of Warriors Gate will feature in a future ep of my Who podcast. Such a talented actor.”

Another tweeted: “Goodbye to Clifford Rose, whom @TalkingPicsTV viewers will know from Secret Army on Sunday nights. So skilled at humanising Sturmbannführer Ludwig Kessler. One of those actors you couldn’t take your eyes off.”

An online user wrote: “RIP Clifford Rose. An RSC stalwart & fine Shakespearean. His Kessler in the superb Secret Army is one of the great TV characters: a study in controlled evil given a touching love story. He was an ace Doctor Who villain too.”
