Former England Colin Grainger’s Cause of Death
Sheffield United Football Club announced that sadly England and Leeds forward player Colin Grainger’s cause of death has been reported after he passed away on Sunday (June 20, 2022) at the age of 89.
May he rest in peace; our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.
Grainger who spent one season with the Whites following inking in 1960 and his old side paid tribute to his life and times.
He was understood as the ‘singing winger’, he bragged about a good career in music as well as football, coming under the wing of theatre impresario Joe Collins, father of Joan, and signing to the HMV record label and having a crash with ‘This I know.

Colin Grainger’s Cause of Death Revealed
Colin also wore the colors of Leeds, Port Vale, Doncaster Rovers, and eventually Macclesfield Town before hanging up his boots. He was a highly respected scout in later years and had a lengthy spell back with United once again in that role under Neil Warnock.

Colin and his lovely wife were regular visitors to our Senior Blades events over the years where he graced them with his fantastic signing act. Colin put his incredible story into a book, appropriately titled ‘The Singing Winger’ in 2019 – an incredible tale of an incredible life.
Colin was a truly wonderful, warm, and engaging man who was highly regarded by those who knew him at Sheffield United FC and was one of the players who helped welcome Pele to the Club on his visit to celebrate Sheffield FC‘s 150th birthday.
