Did Corey Phelan’s Cancer Lead to His Unexpected Death at 20?
Day of sorrow; They were a lot of rumors on social media on October 13, 2022, about the Philadelphia Phillies Minor League pitcher’s sudden death at the young age of 20. It has been reported that Corey Phelan’s cancer was the reason behind it.
He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a form of cancer about a year ago when he was only 19. He was on the injured list because of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and a visit was arranged by manager Joe Girardi and his staff.
During that visit, Girardi said: “The kid is a fighter and he is a strong kid. He is mentally strong. He is tough, his whole family was here. He spoke to us and it was pretty moving.”
When they visited him on Saturday afternoon, hours before playing the Mets at Citi Field, the Philadelphia Phillies were happy to see Phelan but he was over the moon and said “It was awesome. I can’t put into words how awesome it was.”
He also added that every time he can watch them on TV, depending on what channel they are playing on, he watches them and roots for them every game. “I love watching them play. They bring my spirits up.”
After the meeting, Phelan gave each person in the organization a green bracelet and told them that he watches all of their games while he is recovering from his illness.
The Titans sent Corey Phelan and the whole Phelan Family many Prayers and Well Wishes as Corey fights non-Hodgkin lymphoma when he was diagnosed with cancer. They added that the Philadephia Phillies honored Corey as a Co-Minor League Pitcher for the Month of April.
