Tragic Story of Costa Titch’s Cause of Sudden Death on Stage

South African rapper Costa Titch’s cause of death shocked fans. He died after collapsing while performing at the Ultra Music Festival in Johannesburg on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

The 27-year-old, whose real name was Constantinos Tsobanoglou, passed away in the hospital after stumbling and then appearing to lose consciousness while performing.

“Death has tragically knocked at our door. Robbing us of our beloved son, brother, and grandson, Constantinos Tsobanoglou (28), who South Africa had come to love and idolize under his stage name ‘Costa Titch,'” his loved ones wrote.

The family added: “It is with deep pain that we find ourselves having to acknowledge his passing at this time. We are thankful for the emergency responders and all those present in his last hours on this earth.”

“As a family we are faced with a difficult time as we try to make sense of what has befallen us and ask that we be afforded the time and space to gather ourselves.

“The Tsobanoglou family thanks you for the love and support you have given to our son and may you continue to uplift him even in spirit. Please keep us in your prayers and uplifted in the Lord,” the statement read.

Before the rapper’s family released the statement confirming Titch’s death, footage circulated on social media of Constantinos Tsobanoglou performing at the Ultra Music Festival at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg.

The singer was seen falling to the ground but he continued to perform and finished his track a few seconds later before falling for a second time.

Rapper Costa Titch’s Cause of Death Disclosed

Costa Titch’s cause of death was disclosed as he collapsed on stage in front of his horrified audiences during his final song. May he rest in peace.

Touching tributes have poured in for the late musician, with former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Oti Mabuse commenting on Instagram: “Rest in peace 😢.’

UK electronic music group Clean Bandit commented a broken heart emoji on the news. Musical ensemble Major League DJz also expressed his sadness, writing” This is so sad..💔 Rest Well My G.”

Artist Frank Càsino also wrote: “eiisshhh… Rest easy bro💚🕊️,’ while actor and former beauty contestant Wema Sepetu penned: “This is Sad… RIP Costa Titch… Gone too soon…🕊️🕊️🕊️.”

A couple of days ago, the rapper shared a post announcing that his latest music video for his song Enjoyment with Buzzi Lee had just come out.

Costa Titch, whose songs include Big Flexa and Activate, began his career as a backing dancer before making the transition to a rapper.

A rising star of the South African music scene, Titch was an award-winning performer after breaking into the music industry in 2020.

He had recently signed to rapper Akon’s record label Konvict Kulture and is well-known for his hits such as Activate and Nkalakatha.

Costa was tipped to achieve wider credit as his signing meant he could reach more audiences around the world.

In a recent interview, he said: “After the success of my 2022 catalog, we felt it was time to partner with a global entity so we can continue to push the barriers on an international scale.”

Last month, fellow South African rapper AKA, real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, passed away at the age of 35.

Tsobanoglou shared a tribute on social media to his friend at the time, posting a broken heart emoji on Instagram alongside a compilation of photos and videos. He later wrote: “Still doesn’t feel real… Love you forever big bro!”
