Jonathan Maberry has shared a statement via Twitter, writing: “There are conflicting stories from members of David Farland’s family, so I’m posting one that is at least hopeful.

“Just heard that David has not passed but is in a coma with a brain bleed. If I here absolute confirmation, I’ll pass that along,” he added.

Farland’s Runelords series have hit the New York Times bestsellers list. He won the Writers of the Future contest in 1987. He had been nominated for a Nebula Award and a Hugo Award.

The legendary author lived in St. George, Utah, with his wife and five children.

David Farland’s Dies of a Heart Attack

David Farland’s cause of death has been revealed and shocked many fans. Since no single reliable source has mentioned anything yet, US day News can not confirm nor deny anything.

Farland began writing during his college years and entered short stories into various contests. His career took off in 1987 when he won first place in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future contest for his great novel On My Way to Paradise.

He has won several awards for his work. Wolverton’s historical novel In the Company of Angels won the Whitney Award for best novel of the year.

His young adult fantasy thriller Nightingale won the International Book Award for Best Young Adult Novel of 2012, the Grand Prize at The Hollywood Book Festival, and also the Southern California Book Festival for Best Young Adult Novel.

He had been nominated for other awards, including the Nebula Award in the Best Novellette category for his story “After a Lean Winter.”

Wolverton has worked in the gaming industry and in Hollywood. He started working part-time at Saffire studios and helped to create video games in 1998.

In 2002, he began working as a movie producer and also greenlighted movies.

After the sad news of David Farland’s death was revealed, his friends and social media users flooded social media with tribute messages.

Harry Turtledove wrote: “Just heard that Dave Wolverton, who wrote more prominently as David Farland, died of a heart attack. Damn! People younger than I am should quit doing things like that. I met him a couple of times; didn’t know him well. My sympathies to his family.”
