Director David Von Ancken’s cause of death came as a shock to many fans after the Seraphim Falls director died at the age of 56. May he rest in peace.

Prolific director David Von Ancken died on July 26, at his home in Agoura Hills, California, after a two-year battle with aggressive stomach cancer. He was 56.

Von Ancken’s partner in life and business, Meg London-Boche announced the sad news in a statement. “David was the kind of person who walked into a room, and you couldn’t help but immediately gravitate towards him.”

“His vibrant energy towards life and years of personal adventures carried into his extraordinary direction of television and film. He was constantly formulating stories in his mind and always eager to share them with the world,” Meg London-Boche added.

David Von Ancken, who was born in New York on December 5, 1964, worked on a multitude of great TV shows as well as several film projects.

During his career, Von Ancken worked on over three dozen series, including; Gossip Girl, Oz, Without a Trace, The Vampire Diaries, The Mentalist, CSI: NY, Cold Case, and Hell on Wheels. In addition, David wrote and directed “Bullet in the Brain ( 2001).”

The director leaves behind his partner, Meg London-Boche, his parents, Eva and Henry Von Ancken, his sister, Beth McMullen, and his daughter.

After the heartbreaking news of Von Ancken’s death came out, his friends and fans paid touching tributes to him and spread their condolence through social media.

Code Black showrunner Michael Seitzman tweeted: “Anyone who met David would describe him by his energy, boundless and infect. He was unfailingly optimistic and relentlessly positive. ‘Let’s do it!’ was his response to every single challenge, no matter how daunting.”

He added: “I always describe David as full of life. Even now, I can assure you he is full of life. Watch his work, and you’ll see what I mean. He taught me many things, the most important of which is to live your life “full of life” until your very last day. Rest in peace, DVA. I miss you.”
