The beloved host of the popular radio show “Dori Monson Show,” Dori Monson’s cause of death was released after he passed away on December 31, 2022, at the age of 61.

We are sorry for the loss; his family, friends, and fans are in our thoughts and prayers during this sorrowful time. We hope they treasure the memories they have of Dori Monson.

The legend’s show was aired on Kiro FM, a Seattle-based radio station; the show discussed political and social topics. KIRO Newsradio confirmed the tragic news of Dori’s passing announcing that he took his last breath only hours before the New Year.

Kiro FM, in a statement shared on its website, remembered Monson as a “watchdog of government and social issues” and that he was known by his listeners as a “boy from the mean streets of Ballard.”

Monson, who was raised in Ballard, an ethnic enclave in Seattle, began his radio career as a student at the University of Washington. According to his Wikipedia page, he was the “play-by-play announcer for Husky Football on-campus broadcaster KCMU.”

He received his big radio break when he was given his own show on Kiro FM in the afternoon slot.

Dori Monson’s Cause of Death Related to His Recent Illness

Dori Monson’s cause of death has not been announced at this time, but we know he suffered from underlying health issues over the years and suffered a cardiac arrest on December 29 after which he was hospitalized. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, and a dog.

Our team does not confirm any rumors about the news, though you can be sure that we are attempting our best to find related information about the tragedy and provide the latest updates as soon as possible; but, do not forget that family privacy should be respected.

Monson is described as “a man of deep faith and a fierce advocate for girls’ sports for more than 25 years” in an announcement by the Kiro FM’s website. The radio station is also working on on-air tributes to memorialize and celebrate his life and legacy according to Bonneville Seattle (described as the “home” of Kiro FM) Vice President and Market Manager, Cathy Cangiano.

Many prominent personalities in the radio space gave their condolences and expressed gratitude for the impact he had on the radio industry. Jason Rants tweeted that he is in complete shock at the passing of Dori Monson. He said there is nothing he can say in a tweet — or a book — to adequately describe Monson’s impact on our city, our radio stations, and our lives.

Meanwhile, Cameron J. Collins criticized Monson for pushing what he called right-wing nonsense and for hurting political discourse in Seattle. Collins added that he is sorry to those who lost their friend, but Monson made Seattle a worse place and especially for the most marginalized people.

Regardless of his health condition, Monson was still commenting on the prevalence of hypocritical tendencies among political leaders. Tweeting from his hospital bed he said that Buttigieg is a climate hypocrite and asked if there was any attribute that qualified Buttigieg for the post of Transportation Secretary.
Currently, there are no updates shared by his family or Kiro FM regarding his funeral service.
