After defecting from Marcos’ government, Ramos became a hero for many people, where he led the national police force, prompting the dictator’s downfall during the 1986 popular uprising against his rule. Although, others consider his role in enforcing martial law under the Marcos Regime, as an unforgivable or unforgettable act.

We believe that he leaves behind a magnificent legacy and an assured place in history for his participation in the great changes in his country and not just as a president but also as a military officer and chief executive.

In the election of 1992, Ramos narrowly won a contest to replace the People Power leader Corazon Aquino who at that time unseated Marcos. Though he just earned less than 23% of the vote, in the contract, Ramos soon polled at 66% support people.

His efforts led to huge progress in the Philippines and under his leadership, the Philippines enjoyed economic growth and stability. One of his plans was the Philippines 2000 Five-Point Program, which its targets were:

  • Peace and Stability
  • Economic Growth and Sustainable Development
  • Energy and Power Generation
  • Environmental Protection
  • Streamlined Bureaucracy

Fidel V. Ramos received two major achievements during his carer which are his policy of formal peace negotiations with the communists and Moro separatists to address the roots of the armed conflict, and his repeal of the anti-subversion law.

During the time that he was the president of the Philippines, he served his country lovingly and tried his best for a better future. His presidency was recalled for a period of peace, stability, and economic growth for the country.

After he got retired, he didn’t leave the politician completely and remained active in politics, serving as an adviser to his successors.
