Heartbreaking news from the Belgian football world: Former football player Franck Berrier’s cause of death at a young age shocked many fans and friends.

The ex-player of Zulte Waregem, Standard, KV Oostende, and KV Mechelen Franck Berrier died as a result of a cardiac arrest while paddling. He had stopped playing football about two years ago due to serious heart problems.

Frank Berrier was born on May 12, 2010, in Argentan, France. He started his professional career with SM Caen but spent most of his life as a professional football player in Belgium.

In 2008, Zulte Waregem took Berrier over from Cannes on a free transfer. After two years, Franck moved to Standard but returned to Essevee in January 2012.

While many fans are searching for Franck Berrier’s cause of death, it was revealed that the young football player suffered a heart attack and was then rushed to the hospital. But unfortunately, he died from a second heart attack in hospital.

The Frenchman is said to have suffered cardiac arrest during a game of padel. He ended his professional career in January 2019 after struggling for several months with a viral infection on the heart muscle.

Research confirmed that his heart had not recovered sufficiently to be able to play football, although Franck could still exercise recreationally. Berrier’s heart problems were now fatal to him.

After his career as a football player, he first stayed with KV Mechelen as a scout. Franck briefly returned to KV Oostende in January 2020 to become an assistant coach.

Berrier left KV Oostende when head coach Adnan Custovic was fired. Franck was spotted at the Ostend U23 in October while he was doing an internship for a trainer course.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Something besides so rare, I just heard the news that football player Franck Berrier passed away at the age of 37. He helped Ostend in the rough times, and I can’t thank him enough for it. My thoughts are with his wife and kids, and I wish the family lots of strength.”

Another fan tweeted: “Franck Berrier was a French attacking midfielder who fans loved because he could pick a pass that no one else could see. A joy to watch.”

“R.I.P. Franck Berrier. Another one who died way too soon. He was a very known footballer in the Belgian football league. At just 37 years old, a heart attack. Tragic and unfair! He was a very decent footballer,” one fan said on Twitter.
