The tragic news came out, saying that Frank Varey’s cause of death was due to drowning. It has been reported that his dead body was found after a five-hour search operation in the River Dee.
They found him on Thursday night after drowning in the River Dee. Divers found his body 5 hours later. It is said that a friend tried to save Frank and later warned people against swimming in the water during the heatwave, adding: “Please everyone, stay out of the rivers.”
Hours earlier that event, several photos were shared on his Instagram, showing that he had arrived at Chester’s riverfront with his mates amid record high temperatures.
He also shared some videos of jumping into the water. Hours later, police were called to the scene around 2.30 pm, reporting that a teen was missing in the water.
Chester Police stated: “Extensive searches have been taking place throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Search teams found a body in the river shortly before 8 pm.”
He continued: “Formal identification has not yet taken place, but it is believed to be that of the missing boy.
Adding that: “The teenager’s family have been informed, and specially trained officers are supporting them.”
Frances Barrett shared via tweet: “A memorial and balloon release was held in honor of 16-year-old Frank Varey – who tragically died in the River Dee yesterday – in Chester this afternoon.”
