Tangier revealed this sad news on its Facebook page earlier today, on August 28, 2021: “It is with is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gari Saint, beloved second guitar player on Tangier’s first album “Four Winds.” He was an exceptional guitar player and an even better person. Gari made a huge contribution to the band vibe, songs, and overall sound. More importantly, he was a brother to all of us. Always calm, always cool. He will be sorely missed. Tangier Guitarist Gari Saint is Dead or Alive?!

US day News doesn’t confirm or refuse any reason for Gari Saint’s death, but his death news is confirmed by the Tangier band on Facebook. We are waiting for more official information, so stay with us.

After a few local successes, Doug Gordon decided to disband Tangier and start from the beginning. He wrote new stuff and put together a new version of Tangier, including only Mattson and Adam F Ferraioli from his bandmates for the new team. Doug and Adam did the demo themselves, later adding Bill and Tony R on bass. However, Adam left the group to join Britny Fox after the drummer had died in a car crash.

Gordon started working as a rock band by Guitar World in October 1989 and on “Sweet Surrender,” the album. Garry Nutt was brought on board, Gari Saint on guitar, and Jimmy Drnec on drums. The group recorded demos and sought management, and hooked up with Larry Mazer.

The group was showcased for many labels and was finally signed by Derek Schulman, who was to head up the reborn and renovated Atco Records label. Veteran producer Andy Johns was chosen to produce Four Winds. Bobby Bender was settled for the drums prior to recording Four Winds. It produced the hit singles “Southbound Train” and “On The Line.”

For their second major-label album, there were some line-up changes again. Separating with both Bill Mattson and Gari Saint, the band brought in vocalist-guitarist Mike LeCompt. This album produced the hit single “Stranded,” which Pamela Anderson starred in the music video. The band fell apart in 1992.

Gari was my good friend for many years. The best. I spoke with his wife Danielle recently. One of the things I mentioned was how generous he was with his musical knowledge. How he got me into digital recording, and how he spent countless hours helping me, all for free. He never asked for anything in return. He had a way of inspiring people to be better musicians. His demeanor was always calm, cool, friendly, and he made people feel welcome. I heard a phrase years ago that reminds me of him, and I keep thinking about it. “Of my friend I can say this, of all the souls I have ever met, his was the most human.” We’re going to miss you Gari, my stellar friend.
