One of the most heartbreaking news was received on June 13, 2022, about Glenn Hilliard’s cause of death. The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Officer was shot and killed while he was trying to arrest a fugitive in Pittsville on Sunday. May he rest in peace.

Hilliard was a brother to those he worked with, and an exemplary public servant to the citizens of Wicomico County and to the State of Maryland. Is he was alive, he would have celebrated his 42nd birthday next week on June 22nd. May his beautiful soul rest in peace.

The sheriff’s office confirmed a few hours ago that a man named Austin Davidson was wanted for questioning in connection with an officer-involved shooting on Gumboro Road in Pittsville that same night. Davidson, who was considered armed and dangerous, was later located, according to the sheriff’s office.

Until now Austin Davidson is the main suspect in this tragic loss but no further information about the suspect was immediately available.

Governor Larry Hogan who is the 62nd Governor of the State of Maryland said: ”Effective immediately, both the U.S. and Maryland state flags will fly at half-staff in honor of Deputy First Class Glenn Hilliard of the Wicomico Police Department who was shot and killed in the line of duty last night. We continue to keep his loved ones in our prayers.”
