Gone Girl actress Lisa Banes’ death news at the age of 65 came to sadden the fans more than a week after she was struck by a scooter in a hit-and-run in New York City on Friday (June 4, 2021).

Her manager David Williams released a statement to confirm that Lisa Banes passed away on Monday (June 14) from her severe injuries; He wrote, “We are heartsick over Lisa’s tragic and senseless passing.”

The actor had been in critical condition at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital for about ten days after a motorized bicycle ran a red light and hit her near Lincoln Center when she was passing Amsterdam Avenue on the way to visit the Julliard School.

According to Williams, Gone Girl actress Lisa Banes was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside hospital to treat “substantial injuries.” But unfortunately, she suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and was unable to recover.

The statement of Lisa Banes’ manager also read, “We are heartsick over Lisa’s tragic and senseless passing,” David Williams told NBC News. “She was a woman of great spirit, kindness and generosity and dedicated to her work, whether on stage or in front of a camera and even more so to her wife, family and friends. We were blessed to have had her in our lives.”

Banes played in many TV shows and movies, such as supporting roles in “Gone Girl” starring Ben Affleck in 2014 and “Cocktail” and Tom Cruise in 1988. On TV also, she appeared on “Nashville,” “Madam Secretary,” “Masters of Sex,” and “NCIS.”

What Led to Gone Girl Actress Lisa Banes’Death?

65-year-old Banes was struck on her way to visit her alma mater when she was crossing Amsterdam Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, the Julliard School, according to Williams.

The hit-and-run happened at approximately 6:30 pm. Soon, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at West 64 St. and Amsterdam Ave.

The vehicle passed a red light, and the driver fled the scene while Banes had the right of way and was “flung” from the road.

In a statement, the NYPD continued: “Upon arrival, officers observed a 65-year-old female pedestrian lying on the roadway with severe head trauma. EMS responded to the location and transported the aided female to Mount Sinai Saint Luke’s Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.”

Good to know, the suspect fled from the scene, police announced and there have been no arrests at this time.
