The 6-foot-10 Hill played parts of three seasons at UCLA before quitting after the 2020-21 season, citing stress and depression in an Instagram video revealing his decision. The young sporter was one of three UCLA players, along with LiAngelo Ball and Cody Riley, who was captured in China on shoplifting charges in November 2017. He was suspended for the 2017-18 season but came back to the program the next season and played in 77 games during his career with the Bruins, averaging 6.5 points and 6.4 rebounds.
