Former Marshall University football player Jaquan Yulee’s car accident led to the death of the star at the scene on Tuesday night (July 13, 2021) at the young age of 24. May he rest in peace.
This beloved Chesapeake native and ex Lakeland High School, Indian River High School, and Marshall University football star was killed in a Tuesday night crash which occurred in rural Suffolk. The tragedy has been confirmed in a tweet by Marshall University, calling the player “exemplary.”
Jaquan Yulee lost his life after his car flipped onto its roof on Leafwood Road near South Quay Road while he was alone in the vehicle, police reported.

Police and fire officials arrived at the crash scene at approximately 7 pm where they discovered the player in the overturned vehicle flipped on its roof. The sporting hopeful was reportedly driving as the only occupant inside when the car crash happened.
Graduating from high school and entered Marshall University’s, Thundering Herd, Yulee was later ranked by ESPN as highly on his career out of high school and received offers from other teams including Alabama, Clemson, and Florida.
Only hours before Marshal Football star Jaquan Yulee’s fatal accident, the star shared a post on Twitter to open up about his new college career. writing, “It’s not about how big the school is or who went to the school before you no matter if it’s D1 , D2 or D3 when you sign that letter to attend that University it’s either you gone eat or you gone starve just know if you a dawg them scouts coming to get you no matter where you at!”

A highly praised linebacker out of Indian River High School, academic matters caused former Alabama to commit to Marshall, where he immediately became a fan favorite due to his charisma and attractive personality.
Although injuries kept his production on-field for the Herd limited, his impact was not, as evidenced by the outpouring of love and thoughts on social media Tuesday night as word spread of the accident.
One of the late star’s past and present teammates shared videos of him as tribute while also penning messages in memory of their fallen brother. “ForEva Play for 2!!” Marshall wide receiver Talik Keaton said on Tuesday night.
Fans and those close to the program additionally say about the impact of Yulee’s death, announcing “This one really hurts,” Marshall fan Stacy Morrison said. “I’m in complete shock. He was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.”
