Rumor of Power Rangers Star Jason David Frank’s Suicide at 49


After the internet swirled with rumors early on November 19, 2022, a rep for Jason David Frank confirmed that the actor has sadly died. Many fans are searching for Jason David Frank’s cause of death at 49.

The actor and mixed martial artist passed away in Texas, according to his rep Justine Hunt. Sources with direct knowledge reported that his death was the result of suicide.

Jason’s family have not released a statement on his death as of yet, but two posts from his friend shared on social media to pay tribute to the late star.

His close friend Mike Bronzoulis took to Facebook to share a photo of the two and said: “RIP my brother from another mother Jason David Frank. I’m still in shock. I’m feeling terrible he called left me a message and I took too long.”

Bronzoulis continued: “Jason was a good friend to me and I will miss him. Love n prayers for his wife Tammy and their kids, I pray that God gets yall through this difficult time.”

Artist BossLogic also confirmed the sad news by tweeting: “Rest in peace Jason David Frank Just talking to you a few weeks back… This is heartbreaking. My condolences to the family….”

“I didn’t want to believe it. I still don’t want to. I didn’t even know that this is not confirmed. I have been working with him on a project, I found out through that and the mutuals we both work with. I’m shocked and heartbroken as everyone else….,” BossLogic added.

Jason David Frank was born September 4, 1973, in Covina, California. He was cast in the role of Tommy Oliver, the Green Ranger. The role was set for fourteen episodes.

Due to the popularity of the character, Jason was brought back as the White Ranger and the new leader of the team.

Frank appeared as the Green Ranger in Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and again in Power Rangers Dino Thunder.

On November 7, 2013, he appeared on “Super Power Beatdown” as the White Ranger taking on Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.

He starred again on “Super Power Beatdown” in May 2015, as the Green Ranger and fought Ryu from Street Fighter. After his success with the “Super Power Beatdown” series, Bat in the Sun started developing a web reality series of Jason titled, “My Morphing Life”. In 2015, the show began airing season 2.

In 2020, the film Legend of the White Dragon launched on Kickstarter. Initially, it was going to be a mini-series or fan film. With its popularity, it grew into a full-feature film.

The film includes past Power Rangers performers such as Jason Faunt, Ciara Hanna, and Frank. Other cast members include Andrew Byron Bachelor, Mark Dacascos, Michael Madsen, and Jenna Frank.

The film wrapped in 2021. It is currently in production and set to release in 2023.

Circumstances Behind Jason David Frank’s Cause of Death

The circumstances behind Jason David Frank’s cause of death had not officially been announced, but some sources claimed that he died after committing suicide.

He’s survived by his four children. His rep Justine Hunt asked people to respect the privacy of Frank’s family and friends during this difficult time as they come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being. Hunt added: “He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will truly be missed.”

On June 28, 2003, Frank was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame. On February 29, 2008, he appeared at the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio.

On August 21, 2009, he officially announced his signing with SuckerPunch Entertainment, a sports marketing and management company specializing in MMA.

Frank began training with UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard. In 2010, Frank fought for the Texas Rage in the Cage Amateur Association “Cage Rage 7”. His opponent was James Willis. He defeated his rival via KO in 23 seconds of the first round with a rising knee.

After the devastating news of Jason David Frank’s death was revealed, his fans and friends expressed their deepest sadness. Many people also took to Twitter to send their tributes to the late artist.

Walter Jones, who played the black ranger in ‘MMPR,’ said: “He was an inspiration to so many people. His presence will be dearly missed. It’s so sad to lose another member of our Ranger family.”

Jones continued: “Jason was one of the biggest pranksters on the show. He had a wild sense of humor. We had our shares of ups and downs but I stayed consistent about being an ear if he needed one. My prayers go out to his family and all that will miss him.”

“No way… This one hurts for real… Those who know me well know the love I have for Power Rangers, my favorite superheroes by far. Tommy Oliver is the most legendary ranger of all time, always will be,” Edmond Dantés wrote on Twitter.

One Twitter user wrote: “I’m not even speaking on Jason David Frank. Ain’t speaking anything in the air unless I hear news. This man was my inspiration to life. Any obstacles I faced them head on with his mentality. I wouldn’t be half of what I am if it wasn’t for his encouragement.”

One fan tweeted: “There weren’t too many that inspired me as a kid, but this man surly did. A true legend whose role transcended the small and big screen. You will truly be missed, but never forgotten. You are THE Power Ranger…Rest in peace Jason David Frank. Hero 4ever for me.”

“I can’t fucking do this anymore man. This is so sad to wake up to. RIP Jason David Frank. You were more than just a role and more than just the green and white ranger but seeing you always flooded me with memories and nostalgia and can’t believe your gone,” another user tweeted.
