Jethro Lazenby, who worked as an actor and model sadly passed away at the age of 31. The sad news was announced by his father, musician Nick Cave but he did not reveal Jethro Lazenby’s cause of death.

“With much sadness, I can confirm that my son, Jethro, has passed away. We would be grateful for family privacy at this time,” the Bad Seeds frontman said in a statement to announce the news.

Jethro, whose mother was Australian model Beau Lazenby, was Nick Cave‘s eldest child and first met his father at age seven. In his later years, he developed a long criminal history, spending some time in jail in 2018 for threatening to murder his girlfriend and for beating his mother Beau Lazenby in April.

The young model had been released from prison on bail two days before he passed away, having been jailed for kneeing his mother in the face during a row over cigarettes – leaving Beau Lazenby “bruised and bleeding”.

He largely worked as a model – including for Versace and Balenciaga – while also taking on some acting roles – including the Corroboree and My Little Princess – starring Isabelle Huppert.

The artist was also reported to have started some of his own music projects in his dad’s footsteps.

Jethro Lazenby’s Cause of Death Remains a Secret

Jethro Lazenby’s cause of death has not been at this time but according to reports, the 331-year-old model struggled with his mental health and his lawyer recently disclosed that Jethro suffered from schizophrenia.

BBC reported that the late model was not aware that Nick was his father until he was seven. There is scant information about his mother, Beau Lazenby, however, it is known that Jethro was born while Nick was married to his first wife – Brazilian journalist Viviane Carneiro.

Carneiro gave birth to Nick’s second son Luke just 10 after before Jethro was born – to his Melbourne-based model mother in 1991. Jethro grew up in Australia, but also spent some time in London, telling the Evening Standard in 2012 that it was pretty tough coming from abroad.

Jethro revealed that he did not call on his father’s help, who was living in Brighton by then was living with his 2nd wife Susie Bick and their twin boys Earl and Arthur.

In 2015, Cave’s son Arthur passed away at 15 years old after falling off a 60-foot cliff. An investigation determined that he had been high on LSD at the time. The impact of the passing was a part of Andrew Dominic‘s 2016 documentary about the singer, One More Time With Feeling.

Nick wrote about Arthur’s death in a letter to a fan who had experienced similar losses. The singer wrote: “It seems to me, that if we love, we grieve. That’s the deal. That’s the pact. Grief and love are forever intertwined. Grief is the terrible reminder of the depths of our love and, like love, grief is non-negotiable.”

The Into My Arms singer went on to say that he often felt Arthur’s presence. “Create your spirits. Call to them. Will them alive. Speak to them. It is their impossible and ghostly hands that draw us back to the world from which we were jettisoned; better now and unimaginably changed,” the musician wrote.

Jethro often used his father’s surname to drive his own professional career, but later reverted back to using his mom’s surname, Lazenby. On using his father’s surname, Jethro once told his fans: “Tbh [to be honest] it’s not as profitable as one would think.”

Nick hinted at the complicated relationship he had with his son in 2018. He said that it was a difficult time, but it turned out great in the end. He added: “To my eternal regret, I didn’t make much contact with Jethro in the early years, but I now have a great relationship with him.”

At some point, Jethro returned to Australia, where he continued working as a model.
