He was young, he was so active, so people are wondering what happened to him to find out famous wrestler Jimmy Rave’s cause of death since the legend suddenly passed away today (December 14, 2021,) at the age of 39. May he rest in peace.
The heartbreaking death news was confirmed by his daughter, Kailah, and friend Bill Behren announcing in a statement that “James Michael Guffey has died at the age of 39. James was best known as Professional Wrestler, Jimmy Rave. His career, which started in 1999, continued for over 2 decades.”
The late star, who retired in November 2020 after over 20 years in the business, made his name working for Ring of Honor, IMPACT, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Dragon Gate, and Combat Zone Wrestling. The wrestler finally retired in November of 2020 due to a string of health problems.
Jimmy Rave, real name James Guffey, was an American retired professional wrestler. As we mentioned, the beloved wrestler was best known for performing for Ring of Honor (ROH) and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).
Rave wrestled for several pro wrestling promotions on the independent circuit, such as Combat Zone Wrestling, Full Impact Pro, and NWA Wildside. He was awarded the NWA Wildside Junior Heavyweight Championship and the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship twice.

Although there is no official report about Jimmy Rave’s cause of death at this time, some unofficial sources have started to claim he lost his life due to a drug OD.
The press did not confirm a cause of death, it did mention Guffey’s struggles with drug addiction. Due to infections, he was required to have both his left arm and both legs amputated within the last two years.
As the statement then came to add, “Jimmy had been struggling with drug addiction for many years. His struggles resulted in the amputation of his arm, and, later, both of his legs.”

In October 2021, Jimmy Rave, real name James Guffey and famous for his work in Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling/TNA, opened up about his leg amputations on Twitter, writing at the time:
“Apparently it’s time for me to come clean. This past June I began having trouble walking & went to my surgeon. He determined I had MRSA in both legs & they needed to be amputated immediately. Promoters can tell you along with my peers, I’ve had a history w/this and would cancel shows often due to this condition. I don’t know where rumors started this was due to something else, but I hadnt been to shows for so long. So where did someone see me do something? *I* have ALWAYS been honest with my past. *I* went on podcast n interviews being super candid. Pro Wrestling is all I ever loved. It sucks to think that the tribe I would have died for, would say untrue things about me. I’ve gone this whole time not disclosing my legs because of this embarrassment. Sorry, I fell short of your expectations. I tried … I really did.”

Another said, “Just heard the news that Jimmy Rave passed away. I had the opportunity to DM with him just 2 months ago both talking about our current mental health states. the guy was in a bad place and I’m just hoping he didn’t take his own life. He deserved better ending than this. R.I.P.”
