Although fans are still trying to find John Regan’s cause of death, sources revealed that the acclaimed rock bassist breathed his last on April 7, 2023. May he rest in peace.
The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie shared a statement to announce the sad news, writing; “We are sad to announce the passing of one of our Chance family, John Regan.”
“John was an incredible musician, a rockstar, but most of all, he was one of the nicest, most humble humans you’ve ever known. John, you will be missed by all of us who had the honor of knowing you.”

John Regan was born on October 28, 1951, in the United States and lived in Wappingers Falls, NY. He was well known for having been a member of Frehley’s Comet from 1984 to 1990 and recorded and performed with Peter Frampton from 1979 to 2011.
Regan toured with Frampton and appeared on many of the guitarist’s albums in a partnership spanning several years, beginning with 1980s Rise Up.
“There might only be a handful, if that, of people who come into your world and truly enrich your life,” Frampton wrote in a tribute to John on his Twitter account.
He added: “I have lost one of my closest buddies. He certainly enriched my life because of the person and the great player he was. John Regan was the best of us. He went out of his way to help people when things weren’t right.
“It didn’t matter who you were, prince or pauper. I know there are many of you out there who knew him. He was a friend to all. Always musically inspiring and one of the funniest people on the planet.”
“My thoughts are with his wife Cathy, his children, Christopher and Jeness, and his grandchildren. I love you, my brother. You will be missed by so many. Rest in peace,” Frampton added.

John Regan’s cause of death at the age of 71 has not been announced at this time. He died at his residence in Wappingers Falls in Poughkeepsie, NY.
He recorded with The Rolling Stones, Stephen Stills, John Waite, Dave Edmunds, Scandal, Billy Idol, Robin Trower, David Bowie, and David Lee Roth.
In the early 1990s, John was a parks commissioner for the village of Wappingers Falls, NY. Peter Frampton played outdoors in 2006 in Wappingers Falls, New York with Regan for local residents.

Beginning in 2014, Regan co-hosted a Sunday morning radio show called Cafe Italia on 1450AM WKIP.
“We kicked around the possibility of a weekly radio program that focused on these timeless artists, their connection to Italian music and culture, and generally a show that would pay homage to the songs that are the “soundtrack” to many of our lives,” he said.
The legendary musician was part of the band Four By Fate, which saw him reunite with former Frehley’s Comet frontman Tod Howarth. They recorded an album together, Relentless (2016).
“John, of course, was a world-class talent and an incredible human being — and from a personal level, he was responsible for me joining him with Ace and Anton [Fig],” Tod Howarth wrote in a tribute on Facebook.
He added: “He was also responsible for the championing of my song ‘It’s Over Now.’ There’s way too much to say and it’s hard to type, stopping and starting constantly. I really haven’t stopped crying most of today as the music world loses another. … What’s more important is the man, the music, love, talent and friendship that he shared for his 71 years.”
