Korean Actress Kang Soo-Yeon Sadly Passed Away at 55

Sad to report that iconic actress Kang Soo-Yeon passed away at the age of 55, whose performance in the Surrogate Woman brought her a historic win at the Venice Film Festival, died on May 7, 2022.

Kang was the first Korean actress to receive an award at an international film festival by playing her role in I’m Kwon-taek‘s film The Surrogate Woman, she won the best actress award at the 44th Venice International Film Festival.

Kang Soo-Yeon passed away, whose act in the Surrogate Woman brought her a historic win at the Venice Film Festival, died at the age of 55.

She was born on August 18, 1966, in Seoul, South Korea. Two days before Kang Soo-Yeon passed away, She was found by her family at 5:40 p.m. at her home in a state of cardiac arrest.

Her family called the 119 emergency hotline. She was given CPR and was taken to the hospital for treatment and remained unconscious. She was on a ventilator for three days. Sadly none of these efforts worked out and Kang Soo-Yeon passed away.

Kang Soo-Yeon Acting Career:

She started acting from 1969 till 2022. When Kang started her career was only a three-year-old kid but before her hit, The Surrogate Woman, she acted in low profile movies.

Her other international success was”Come, Come, Come Upward” which Kang actually got her head shaved on-screen in the scene when Sun Nyog became a nun. She won the best actress at the 1989 Moscow International Film Festival for her act in this movie.

She also served as chairperson of the Busan Film Festival from 2015 to 2017.

Recently Kang filmed her screen comeback JUNG-E, her first film role in 11 years, and now sadly Kang Soo-Yeon Passed Away before her new Netflix upcoming movie be shown.
