Mychel “Snoop” Dillard confirmed the tragic news of her only daughter’s death, who sadly took his last breath “peacefully while she slept.” He shared a statement on Instagram, writing, “
While Snoop has been successfully creating her businesses behind the scenes for more than 10 years, she rocketed to public reputation after partnering with Grammy Award-winning rapper 2 Chainz. The rap star was one of many who paid tribute to the late Katara.
When Snoop was only 15, she gave birth to her daughter, Katara, who was her only child. “It made me grow up rather quickly,” Dillard announced. Finally, The young mom had to give Katara foster care during which time she received her degree.
Mychel fulfilled her dreams of entering Business School at Vanderbilt University by the age of 16. She had graduated when she was 20, crediting her wish to recover custody of Katara as inspiration for getting her degree.
One week after her graduation, Snoop was reunited with her girl. “It was something that I had looked forward to and thought about for so many years,” she said. Snoop additionally publicized that she planned for Katara to take over her business kingdom one day.

“With much love and gratitude from The Dillard Hospitality Group family, it is with a heavy heart that we announced the passing of our beloved Katara “Plum” Dillard. An amazing, carefree spirit, filled with life, love, and laughter who gained her heavenly wings peacefully while she slept,” the statement added.
2 Chainz reposted the tribute on Esco Bar Atlanta’s Instagram to his IG Stories with the caption: “Rest In Peace KT.”
Earlier this year, on February 2, Mychel “Snoop” Dillard wedded Sidney Dean. The couple had been dating for two years before they tied the knot and celebrated their anniversary on June 30.
As news of Katara Dillard’s death was confirmed, Sidney took to social media to pay tribute to her late stepdaughter. On October 4, 2022, Sidney posted a picture of herself with Katara captioning the post: “I will never get over losing you. I was so proud to be your bonus mom.”
