The devastating news was first reported by Black Gospel Radio and Larry Reid Live on social media. The sad news was further confirmed in subsequent IG tributes from singer Titus Showers, singer/songwriter Ted Winn, and Pastor E. Dewey Smith.
Keith Lamar Johnson was born on May 17, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York. When he was 5-year-old he was given the moniker “Wonderboy” because of his wondrous vocal acumen.
Johnson sang with his father Philip Johnson and his Uncles with The original spiritual voices. His music career started in 1998 when he released “Through the Storm” by World Wide Gospel Records.
This would be just one of 11 albums to chart on the Billboard magazine charts. A few placements were on the Independent Albums chart, for 2002’s Send a Revival, 2001’s Tribute to Quartet Legends, 2000’s Live and Alive, Vol. 1, and those just happen to be the albums that placed on the Heatseekers Albums chart.
Johnson released albums with famous labels including World Wide Records, World Wide Gospel, Central South Records, Verity Records, and Blacksmoke Records.
The artist also released fourteen albums with those labels over the course of his thirteen-year career. Johnson’s backing vocalist and the band are called The Spiritual Voices.

Wonderboy started his solo music career in 1998 with the release of Through the Storm, published by World Wide Gospel Records. The artist released 14 albums, over the course of thirteen years.
Eleven albums charted on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart and his other albums chartings on the Independent Albums and Heatseekers Albums charts.
Keith Wonderboy Johnson’s death has come as a shock to family and close friends. His fans and friends expressed their deepest sadness and many fans also took to Twitter to send their condolences and tributes.

“I am heartbroken to report that gospel singer Keith Wonderboy Johnson has reportedly passed away at the age of 50. New York tristate standup He is ours. New York Royalty. He was my friend from the very beginning. I can’t tell you how much I am going 2 miss him. RIP Keith,” Dr. Liz Black wrote.
