Keyshia Cole’s adoptive father, Leon Cole has died after he was hospitalized earlier this month with complications from COVID-19.

The singer-songwriter confirmed the sad news on Twitter Sunday when she replied “Thank you” to a fan’s condolences.

“I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your father!!” the Twitter user wrote, tagging Keyshia. “I’m praying for you and your family during this difficult time!!”

The artist shared a photo of her dad and herself on Instagram, writing: “So here we are. He’s the entire reason my last name is COLE, The only father I knew. He did such a great job here on earth!!!!!”

She continued: “He made sure (Even tho he wasn’t my biological father) to keep a stable foundation and roof over all of our heads during our upbringing!!!! Working for @rideact for over 30 years, My childhood was filled with 40L and 52L rides alongside my father!!! I loved having a bus pass until I was 18 years old.”

“He was a very wise man. Taught me and my siblings that knowledge is power!! He was very dedicated to learning and sharing his strong thoughts and opinions on the Bible and religion and His loving passion for Yahweh Elohim. Our many long talks of love and how a man needs to treat a woman.

“Maybe the reason a man hasn’t been able to hold on to me too long, (LOL) (JK) (But serious) He was the greatest example of love, 51 years of marriage to my mother, Yvonne Cole.

“Seriously, the most loving guy I’ve ever known. And he’s gonna be missed so much! I hate that this has happened !!! And that I’ve now lost two beautiful souls within a few months from each other,” Keyshia added.

Keyshia Cole’s Father’s Death Related to COVID-19

Keyshia Cole’s father’s cause of death relates to Covid-10 complications. His death comes just four months following the death of Keyshia’s biological mother, Frankie Lons.

Keyshia’s adoptive mother, Dr. Yvonne Cole, confirmed the heartbreaking news of her husband’s passing in an announcement posted on her Facebook page.

“With a heart of sadness and sincere condolences, we solicit your prayers for Dr. Yvonne Cole and the Cole family in the passing of Mr. Leon Cole, Jr.

“You are welcome to leave your prayers and any heartwarming [sic] messages as they deal with the passing of Mr. Leon Cole Jr due to COVID 19 complications. We appreciate the support for our family from around the world,” the statement read.

Earlier this month, Yvonne had informed her followers that Leon Cole was in the hospital with COVID-19 complications.

Yvonne wrote: “Mr. Cole is currently experiencing several health challenges due to COVID-19. He’s in the ICU. We ask that you send your support, love, well wishes, and prayers of comfort and healing to Mr. Cole and his loved ones at this time.”

Keyshia, 40, was adopted by Leon and Yvonne when she was just two years old. Earlier this year, Keyshia’s birth mother, Frankie Lons, died.

Yvonne also posted about Lons’ passing on Facebook, writing, “Thank you for all your gracious prayers & kind gestures towards my family & I during this time. Also, please remember to keep my daughter in your prayers.”

The “Just Like You” singer wrote about her biological mother’s death on Instagram in July. “This is so hard, man. Can’t really even find the words. SMH. I honestly don’t even know how to feel,” she wrote.

“You can never prepare for something like this… Ever!!! but you will be missed.”
