Comedian Lawrence Morgenstern Unexpectedly Passed Away
The beloved stand-up comedian who was one of the writers from Mike’s TV show back in the 90s, Lawrence Morgenstern suddenly passed away yesterday (February 27, 2022). May he rest in paradise.
The sad death news was announced by some social media users including comedian-writer John Wing who shared a statement on Twitter, writing, “A comedian from my early times in Toronto, largely unknown outside Ontario, Lawrence Morgenstern, passed away yesterday.”
He then came to add, “A pure comedic light, loved by all. Last time I saw him, he watched my show and came up after with 3 pages of notes, all of which worked. RIP, old friend.”
As a professional comedian and writer for more than three decades, Lawrence is widely acknowledged by his peers as “one the funniest guys on the planet”. He had starred on TV and at comedy clubs and all over North America.
Good to mention, he had additionally written on multiple shows at CBC and CTV, such as a stint as head writer on Mike Bullard’s TV show “Open Mike“.
