Radio Presenter Lisa Shaw’s Cause of Death Relates to Covid Vaccine

BBC Radio Newcastle’s beloved presenter Lisa Shaw’s cause of death was clarified after The BBC shared a statement to announced she passed away in hospital at the young age of 44. Rest in paradise Lisa.

Lisa Shaw’s family confirmed the heartbreaking news and The BBC shared their statement earlier today; they said ‘her death had left ‘a Lisa-shaped hole in our lives that will never be filled.’  

An award-winning BBC radio presenter lost his life as a result of complications from the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine, a coroner has disclosed.

Lisa Shaw, who worked for BBC Radio Newcastle, died at the city’s Royal Victoria Infirmary in May, a little more than three weeks after her first dose of the vaccine developed by academics at the University of Oxford.

The inquest heard that Shaw, 44, had been admitted to hospital after doctors investigating her complaints of headaches found she had suffered a brain hemorrhage.

Karen Dilks, the senior coroner for Newcastle, gave a narrative conclusion. “Lisa died due to complications of an AstraZeneca Covid vaccine,” she said.

The statement tragically reads, “We are all completely heartbroken, in disbelief, numb, and saddened, that there is a Lisa-shaped hole in our lives that will never, ever be filled. We are so grateful for the time that we have had with her, and there are so many happy memories that we will hold dear for the rest of our lives.”

“She was the best wife and mammy, sister, daughter, aunty, friend and colleague that anyone could hope for,” they added.

Also, the heartbroken family came to appreciate supporters, “We’d like to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support we have received at such a difficult time, reinforcing how deeply cherished she was by so many people. We will love and miss her, always.”

Shaw entered BBC Radio Newcastle in 2016 after working in popular stations in the northeast of England including Metro Radio and Heart where her voice was well-known and she also had success in commercial radio.

Lisa Shaw’s cause of death was revealed after she lost her life in the hospital. Fans wanted to know what did Lisa Shaw die of, but sources only announced he died due to a short illness. Some believed his illness had been related to cancer, however, no official sources confirmed it.

The inquest heard that she had been admitted to hospital after doctors examining her complaints of headaches discovered she had suffered a brain hemorrhage.

Shaw, who was referred to by her married name, Lisa Eve, during the hearing, started complaining of headaches a few days after her vaccination. She eventually visited a hospital A&E department in Durham, where she was diagnosed with a blood clot.

She was transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary where she received a number of treatments, including cutting away part of her skull to relieve the pressure on her brain, but despite those efforts, she died on 21 May.

Shaw, broadcasting every weekday on BBC Radio Newcastle, with her last show airing on May 7, was described as a ‘brilliant presenter’ by the station’s Acting Executive Editor Rik Martin.

Martin announced following the death news, “She was a trusted colleague, a brilliant presenter, a wonderful friend, and a loving wife and mum. She loved being on the radio and was loved by our audiences. We’ve lost someone special who meant a great deal to a great many people.”

Born in County Durham, Lisa studied at Bournemouth University and kicked off her career by working for the North East commercial stations Century Radio and Real Radio.

For more than a decade, she was a presenter on Real Radio that led her to win a Sony Gold award for breakfast show of the year in 2012 alongside Gary Philipson.
