Emmy Winner Marc Pilcher’s Cause of Death Relates to COVID

“Bridgerton” hair and makeup designer passed away just three weeks after winning an Emmy for his work on the Netflix series. Marc Pilcher’s cause of death was revealed after his death on October 3, 2021.
According to reports, Pilcher was “double vaccinated,” but he died of Covid-19 on Sunday. His agents Vikki West of Curtis Brown and Adam Maskell said Pilcher was vaccinated with no underlying health condition.
Pilcher had tested negative for Covid-19 several times to travel to and from the U.S. for the award ceremony and became ill shortly after returning to the U.K.

Pilcher was best known for his work across various theater shows, films, and television programs. He worked hard in hair and makeup styling roles on films including “My Week with Marilyn,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Invisible Woman,” and “The Young Victoria.”
Marc was a nominee at the 2019 Academy Awards for his work on the historical drama film “Mary Queen of Scots,” which starred Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan.
In his career in the film and television industry, Marc had worked with artists including Shirley MacLaine, Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Stanley Tucci, Madonna, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Gambon, Michelle Williams, Ian McKellen, and Kristin Scott Thomas.

Emmy-winning hairstylist and makeup designer Marc Pilcher’s cause of death has been revealed by his agent in a statement. Pilcher’s agents confirmed that he died of COVID-19 on Sunday, October 3, 2021.
“It is with the deepest of hearts we confirm that Marc Elliot Pilcher, Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award-winning hair and makeup designer/stylist, passed away after a battle with COVID-19 on Sunday, October 3, 2021,” the statement read.
“He was 53, double vaccinated with no underlying health condition,” Pilcher’s representatives at Curtis Brown said in a statement.

The 53-year-old hairstylist had worked on shows including “Sunset Boulevard,” “Downton Abbey” and “Company.” He was the department head hairstylist on the group that won the award for the outstanding period and character hairstyling at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards.
His final credit will be for The King’s Man, which stars Stanley, Tucci Ralph Fiennes, and Gemma Arterton and will be released later this year.

Reactions to Marc Pilcher’s Death
Shortly after the sad news of Marc Pilcher’s death was revealed, several fans, friends stated their condolences and paid poignant tributes to the ‘Bridgerton’ hair designer.
Bridgerton actor Nicola Coughlan paid a touching tribute to Pilcher on Instagram on Monday and called him “brilliant and visionary.”

“Marc was so passionate about his work and so tremendously talented. Not even a month ago, he won his first Emmy award. It’s a tragedy that he’s been taken so young when he had so much yet to do,
“Please also use this as a reminder that Covid is still a very real and present danger. Please get vaccinated and mask up to protect yourself and others,” Nicola, who played Penelope Featherington in the show, wrote.
“My heart goes out to his friends and family, especially to his wonderful team Lynda, Lou, Adam, Hollie, Tanya, and Claire. He loved and cared for you all so much, and my heart goes out to you all. Rest in Peace, Marc,” she added.
Shonda Rhimes said on Twitter: “The passing of Marc Pilcher is beyond words. I will forever be in awe of the incredible hairstyling and makeup work that he brought to Bridgerton. My heart goes out to his loved ones as we lost him way too soon.”
“Glamorous and extravagant, he brought his flair and style to every design. Never limited in his thought process for his creations, he pushed boundaries and created work never realized before,” Pilcher’s family and friends said in their statement.
