Ex-Studio 54 Owner Mark Fleischman’s Suicide Led to his Death

Today we, unfortunately, received the heartbreaking news about the one-time owner of the famed Studio 54 club in New York City during the 1980s. Mark Fleischman’s suicide was confirmed by his friend on July 13, 2022.
Fleischman had a long career as the co-owner of a New York-based club that attracted celebrities and locals alike. In 1977, Mark Fleischman opened and co-owned the New York nightclub, Studio 54.
At the time, his club was really famous and well-known among celebrities that drew famous guests to its location including Andy Warhol, Bianca Jagger, Liza Minnelli, and Elizabeth Taylor.

The two original owners were arrested for tax fraud and that was when he took over the establishment in 1980. Fleischman and Daniel Fitzgerald owned and ran Studio 54 together, until 1984 when they sold it to new owners who closed it only two years later.
His former business partner Fitzgerald told the platform that while he and Fleischman co-owned the establishment, for a long time, they worked really well together and had a lot of fun together.
In 2017, Fleischman wrote a book about his time during his career titled, Inside Studio 54, a tell-all about the extravagant and wild parties that went on during his time there.
He also added: “Mark would be able to have fun but be really smart at the same time and be really intelligent about figuring things out. He taught me a lot. He was a great mentor for me.”
Also, they co-owned the Century Club in Los Angeles in the 1990s and 2000s. After the problems that he had, they throw a party for him that included a lot of his friends, and everyone thought,
It seems that Mark decided to commit suicide at the moment and the only thing that his friend and loved ones wanted to do was to change his mind. like they wished that he’s going to postpone it a month and we’ll see what we can do. But he was set on doing it.
Daniel Fitzgerald added: “Everyone really had a good time, and we thought that he was going to stick around for a while, his brain was all there.” Also, They brought him to see a drug addiction specialist at Cornell Medical Center, but it didn’t work well enough for him.

Mark Fleischman’s suicide was announced by the former club owner’s business partner Daniel Fitzgerald. He added in a statement: “I got a text from Mimi [his wife] this morning to say that he passed away bravely.”
He took his life at the Dignitas clinic near Zurich on Wednesday. Mark committed suicide on Wednesday in Zurich at the Dignitas clinic. During these last days of his life, he was really sick that he had trouble speaking, could not dress or put on his own shoes, and his wife Mimi had to help him in and out of bed.

Fitzgerald told BBC News: “I guess he was in more pain than we knew.”
It has been reported that it was in 2016 when he first became ill and was left unable to walk and do other things for himself. However, doctors were unable to diagnose his condition.
