Born on 4 November 1967, the hard-working Italian football agent used to represent a number of well-known players like Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marco Verratti, and Erling Haaland to name a few.

The legend also served as the agent of former Czech midfielder Pavel Nedvěd for many years. Speaking seven languages, which included Italian, English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Dutch, is one of his many talents.

Mino Raiola's cause of death was due to health issues.

Mr. Raiola was among a number of high-profile football agents who threatened FIFA with legal sanctions following the planned cap on transfer payments on 22 January 2020, including Jorge Mendes and Jonathan Barnett.

Before stopping at age 18 in 1987 for becoming head of the youth team, he used to play football for the youth team of HFC Haarlem. Mr. Raiola remained involved in the football world, this time as a football agent after a brief venture as a player and administrator.

He started to work at Sports Promotions, a sports agent company, and assisted in the transfers of several high-profile Dutch players to Italian clubs, such as Ajax player Bryan Roy and Marciano Vink.

More than 20 players playing in European leagues are represented by Raiola. He currently resides in Monaco. The legendary agent played a significant role in two disciplinary hearings instigated in 2008, by the FIGC for transfer irregularities as part of a wider investigation of professional football by Italian authorities.

Mino Raiola’s Cause of Death; What Happened?

Mino Raiola’s cause of death was clarified at the time his death was announced. It was shared that the Dutch-Italian agent had been struggling with health issues for a long time. He passed away at the age of 54.

Although Raiola’s family and his real estate agency have not yet confirmed the sad news, many have been sending condolences through social media.

Citi Sports announced: “Reports from Italy say football super-agent, Mino Raiola has died after an illness. Raiola was the agent for a number of star players including Zlatan Ibrahimović, Paul Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Marco Verratti, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Matthijs de Ligt and Erling Haaland #CitiSports.”

A fan expressed “Shock to hear the news, feel sorry for the family. You guys who make a joke about this really need help man. Undoubtedly one of the best agents out there who can make someone’s dream come true. Absolute legend, RIP Mino Raiola🙏”

Instavoetbalzone wrote on Instagram: “Mino Raiola has passed away, Italian media reported. The Dutch-Italian agent had been struggling with health problems for a long time. He turned 54 years old.”

It was added: “Raiola was an absolute key player in football. He was the agent for players such as Erling Braut Haaland, Paul Pogba, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marco Verratti. The renowned advocate also had many Dutch people under his care, including Matthijs de Ligt, Ryan Gravenberch, Stefan de Vrij, Donyell Malen, Denzel Dumfries, Myron Boadu, Justin Kluivert, Owen Wijndal and Calvin Stengs.”

What We Know about Mino Raiola’s Illness

Being well-known for representing ‘big name’ players like Paul Pogba, Mr. Raiola underwent surgery in Milan back in January for an undisclosed illness.

It was reported that Super was ‘very ill.’ On Thursday afternoon, Italian media reported that the 54-year-old had undergone “very delicate” surgery on an undisclosed issue at San Raffaele.

At that point, a tweet from his account shared that he had not had major surgery, but merely underwent planned routine medical checks that required anesthesia.

Mirror Football tweeted: “Mino Raiola, football agent to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, and Erling Haaland amongst others has died aged 54 following a short illness. Rest in peace.”
