The football community has had a heartbreaking day since it was announced that former Doncaster Rovers footballer Neil Campbell’s cause of death is under investigation after the star passed away on May 1, 2022, at the age of 45.

The shocking death news was confirmed by his current club, League Two side Barrow AFC, in a statement earlier today revealing the footballer lost his life suddenly at a young age.

Their statement read, “The club is extremely shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of former player Neil Campbell at the age of just 45. Campbell scored 27 goals in 76 appearances for The Bluebirds after being signed for the club by Lee Turnbull in 2003.”

 He inked for Barrow AFC in 2003 and experienced a successful career with the team.

Good to mention that, Neil additionally played in the Football League for York City, Scarborough, and Southend United, as well as Barrow. His brother Andy is a fellow former Rover too.

The news came out just days after Andrew Woolfolk’s cause of death was released. He passed away, announced officially on April 26, 2022, at the age of 71, due to a long-term illness.
