The Kumawood movie industry was deeply saddened to share the heartbreaking news that famed actor, Osei Tutu’s cause of death has been revealed after the star reportedly passed away on Tuesday (May 17, 2022) at the age of 51.

The actor well known as Tutu is announced to have lost his life in the early hours of Tuesday in his sleep. According to the actor, Tutu’s passing has come as a shock, especially because Osei Tutu was healthy and strong the night before.

The news about his unexpected passing was shared by fellow Kumawood actors and industry players soon after they learned about it.

Born on May 12, 1971, Osei Tutu kicked off his acting career in the early 2000s. He came to fame soon through the movies he appeared in. Affectionately named Tutu, the energetic actor played in multiple movies alongside great celebrities such as Agya Koo, Kyeiwaa, Emelia Brobbey, and many others.

The news came out just days after Andrew Woolfolk’s cause of death was released. He passed away, announced officially on April 26, 2022, at the age of 71, due to a long-term illness.

An Illness Became Osei Tutu’s Cause of Death

The tragic death news was confirmed by colleague actor, Sunsum Ahuofe in an interview. According to the interview, the actor took his last breath today, May 17, 2022, and Osei Tutu’s cause of death was announced as an illness. Sunsum added that some months ago the beloved Tutu had recovered from an illness.

Late Osei tried his best to become a rapper in 2010 but was not able to make a significant imprint. Also good to know, that he owned a shop at Kantamanto, Accra. The actor happily tied the knot with the woman he loved.

The deceased was recently in the United States of America to shoot a movie.

Soon after the news was spread on social media, many of his fans and friends started to share it and show their sadness through heart-touching tributes on their accounts.

A fan wrote, “Kumawood Actor Osei Tutu who normally starred in Ghana local movies as a priest just passed away after a short illness, ” while another account tweeted, “The Kumawood movie industry has been hit with sad news. Actor Osei Tutu has reportedly passed away. May his soul rest in peace.”

Also, Scottish guitarist, composer, and co-founder of Beggars Opera Ricky Gardiner passed away on (May 14, 2022) at the age of 73.

While official sources stayed silent about the heartbreaking news, many social media users are posting about the tragedy; David Bowie News wrote, “Sad to hear that guitarist on David Bowie’s Low album and Iggy pop’s The Idiot, Ricky Gardiner, passed away last night. RIP.”

The famous star entered his first band, “the Vostoks”, at school in 1962, and later he joined “the Kingbees” and “the System”, with whom he founded Beggars Opera in 1969.

Ricky had played in his own outfit with this band, “Beggars Opera“, and additionally with pals David Bowie and Iggy Pop. For late David, he played lead guitar on the 1977 album Low.
