‘The Little Mermaid’ Voice Actress Pat Carroll’s Obituary


Comedian and actress of stage, TV, film, and the voice of Ursula in ‘The Little Mermaid’  Pat Carroll’s obituary reported she passed away at her home on Cape Cod, Massachusetts on July 30, 2022, at the age of 95.

Real name Patricia Ann Carroll, she was born on May 5, 1927, in Shreveport. Her family relocated to LA when she was only five, and she soon kicked off acting in local shows. Graduating from Immaculate Heart High School, she attended the Catholic University of America after enrolling in the US Army.

Carroll’s acting career began in 1947 with the film Hometown Girl. In 1956, she was awarded an Emmy Award for her work on Sid Caesar’s House and was frequent on the sitcom Make Room for Daddy from 1961 for three years.

She additionally appeared on many different shows of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, such as shows led by Steve Allen, Red Buttons, Danny Kaye, Red Skelton, and Carol Burnett. In 1965 she played “Prunella,” one of the evil stepsisters in the 1965 show of musical version of Cinderella.

In 1989, Carroll played the sea witch Ursula in Disney’s The Little Mermaid, singing “Poor Unfortunate Souls.” She named the role one of her favorites and reprised it in multiple other productions in different media.

She is survived by her daughters Kerry Karsian, and Tara Karsian, and granddaughter Evan Karsian-McCormick. There is no information about memorial plans at this time.
