Battle Rapper Pat Stay Killed in Fatal Halifax Stabbing

Share

Fans are shocked after learning that acclaimed Nova Scotia battle rapper Pat Stay was killed in a fatal stabbing in downtown Halifax early Sunday (September 4, 2022) at 36.

May the artist rest in peace; our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, fans, and all of his loved ones during the difficult period.

Canadian battle rap star came to the center of attention last month after challenging The Game to a face-off over his Eminem diss track, “The Black Slim Shady,” and though the LA artist blocked him instead of releasing a diss back, Pat Stay dropped off a diss track of his own this weekend, which he named “Warm Up.”

Although Halifax Regional Police have not identified Pat as the victim, his brother, Peter Stay, confirmed the heartbreaking death news. Police said they were called to the 1600 block of Lower Water Street around 12:36 a.m after receiving a report about someone being armed with a gun.

At the time of their arrival, police found a male victim suffering from a stab wound who was Stay; he was transported to the hospital, where he later took his last breath. The stabbing occurred early Sunday morning in downtown Halifax. And according to the latest updates, no suspect has been arrested for the fatal stabbing.

The star was born in Dartmouth, Novia Scotia, and hardly a hotbed for hip hop, but he was still revered within the industry for his freestyling during live rap battles. Stay had a large social media following and dropped a new track on YouTube two days ago that rips into The Game — it’s called “The Game DISS.”
