John Maddening announced the tragic news in a series of tweets, writing:

Very sorry to pass on the news that my greatest nemesis, Peter “Pete Huge” Houston has passed away. A mainstay of the Minnesota pro wrestling scene for well over a decade, Pete made appearances in many promotions throughout the upper Midwest throughout his career. He was a main villain in the first few years of #WRESTLEPALOOZA and started a feud with me when he randomly slapped me across the face during his introduction. This led to me eventually taking his finishing move, the “G-Spot” (heh.), which sent me to a chiropractor. F’real. He had to quit before he would have liked, due to TBI from a lot of the rougher matches he took part in during the earlier part of his career. He still stuck around and was a fantastic manager and stable leader at another promotion, and he remained friends with most of us. That said, he did suffer with his own demons, but he fiercely loved his friends and family, particularly his sister, is a relationship that could only be described as Wayne and Katie from @LetterkennyProb. It was inspiring. I went to a Smackdown show to see @AriyaDaivari in his first WWE dark match in his hometown, I brought a bright pink sign that said… RIP PETE HUGE …that got on TV a number of times, & the number of people who thought it was real and were concerned made him kinda proud.
