Hoosiers Actor Robert Swan’s Cause of Reath Released by Friend

‘The Untouchables’ actor Robert Swan’s cause of death was released by his friend who announced that the star died at his home in Rolling Prairie, Indiana on August 9, 2023.
His death was also announced on social media by his best friend Betty Hoeffner, who said on Facebook the actor “died peacefully in his sleep at 5.47am, August 9th, in his Rolling Prairie, Indiana home after a long battle with cancer.”
Although best known for his role in ‘The Untouchables’ who becomes outraged by Scottish actor Sean Connery‘s rough-and-tumble Chicago cop’s tactics as they battled Al Capone, Swan was also renowned for starring in the basketball film ‘Hoosiers’.

Born in Chicago on October 20, 1944, Swan made his film debut in 1980 when he starred in ‘Somewhere in Time‘, in which he played the role of a stagehand who fights with Christopher Reeve’s character in the year 1912.
Swan’s other roles included turns in Oliver Stone’s movie ‘Natural Born Killers‘, as well as ‘The Owner’. The star also worked on ‘The Twilight Zone’.

Robert Swan’s cause of death was announced by his friend Betty Hoeffner in a Facebook post. He died Wednesday after a long battle with liver cancer.
In 1984 Swab appeared alongside Jane Fonda in the 1984 ABC TV film ‘The Dollmaker‘. In 1986’s ‘Hoosiers’, his character – the Indiana farmer Rollin Butcher – has two sons on the Hickory High School basketball team, and he is one of the few people in the city to welcome new coach Norman Dale (played by Gene Hackman.
Robert was a voice actor in commercials for United Airlines, Nine Lives cat food, Busch and Schlitz beer, and the Beef Industry Council.

he was an opera singer who founded Michigan’s Harbor Country Opera, which has performed “Les Misérables,” “The Magic Flute,” and “The Phantom of the Opera.”
The Hollywood star is survived by his wife, Barbara, as well as brothers Charles and David, sister-in-law Elizabeth, nephews Christopher, Bryan and Daniel; and dogs Chico and Baci.
A celebration of life is set to include a reading of Robert Swan’s screenplay “The Saint and the Scoundrel,” but more details have yet to be revealed.
