Ronnie’s wife Linda Boulware-Wilson said that the singer died on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Linda also said that the singer died peacefully, and she was holding his hand as he took his last breath. She remembered Wilson in a Facebook post as “a genius with creating, producing and playing the flugelhorn, trumpet, keyboards and singing music.”

Linda revealed that he suffered a stroke last week, and it put him into a semi-coma, and he never recovered. Reports say he suffered several strokes throughout the years.

Ronnie, alongside his brothers Robert and Charlie Wilson, formed The Gap Band back in the 1970s in the brothers’ hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. After 43 years together, they retired in 2010.

According to reports, Ronnie Wilson’s cause of death relates to his last stroke. The great artist had a stroke last week and unfortunately never recovered after being put in a semi-coma.

In the mid-1970s, the Gap band recorded several small albums. After signing with Mercury Records in 1979, the group first tasted the taste of national success.

In collaboration with producer Lonnie Simmons, the band reached the top of the soul chart with Clinton-style humor lasting in the industry until the late 1980s.

The Gap Band’s biggest album, “IV,” was one of 1982’s most notable soul albums. The Gap’s other albums are: “Early In the Morning,” “Outstanding,” and the group’s signature hit, “You Dropped A Bomb On Me.”
