Russ Martin’s Cause of Death Is Still Unknown After Days


Famous radio personality in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Russ Martin’s cause of death seems suspicious after his dead body was found in his home Saturday (Feb. 27). He was 60. RIP.

Officers were called at approximately 12:30 a.m. to the house in the 6300 block of Douglas Avenue.

Police found Russ inside his Frisco home early Saturday morning, responding to his house where a friend of his went to check on him and discovered him unresponsive. He, unfortunately, took his last breath in his home and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The beloved Russ was the host of The Russ Martin Show on 97.1 The Eagle. The radio station posted a statement on its website In reaction to the heartbreaking death that partially wrote, “he will be dearly missed & we send our deepest condolences to his family & friends during this difficult time.”

Is Russ Martin’s Cause of Death his Brain Surgery?

Although Russ Martin’s cause of death has not been determined, police claimed no foul play is suspected at this point in their investigation.

A Reddit user wrote a while ago claimed Russ Martin is sick, “Ok so I only get to listen sporadically. I just heard the Tuesday show and them talking about Russ’ brain surgery. Wth? I’ve searched and can’t find an answer. Can someone please get me up to speed?”

The comment caused some hypotheses that believe brain surgery led to his passing. Also, some unofficial sources say it was suicide. The only way to become sure is to wait for the police’s report.

Police Investigation on Russ Martin’s Death Continues

Although police could not find the exact death reason at this time, they are continuing to investigate along with the Collin County Medical Examiner. Russ Martin’s autopsy result can clarify everything regarding his mysterious passing.

The radio host had a foundation named The RMS Listeners Foundation that backs families of Dallas-Fort Worth police officers and firefighters who have passed away in the line of duty.

Soon after the tragic death of Russ Martin, his friends and fans showed their sadness by sharing their tributes on social media.

Through a tribute on KEGL, co-host Dan O’Malley announced one of the last things Martin did was inking a check from the foundation for 40,000 dollars for the widow of Dallas officer Mitchell Penton, who was murdered by a suspected under influence driver this month.

Russell Dale Martin was born October 4, 1960, in Pleasant Grove which is a big, working-class neighborhood, located in southeast Dallas.

After graduating from W.W. Samuell High School, he kicked off his career in the 1980s at KGVL 1400 AM in Greenville, Texas.

Beloved Martin served in the Dallas radio market for above three decades. He hosted: The No. 1-rated The Russ Martin Show, until December 8, 2008, when KLLI turned to an all-sports format. On July 12, 2010, Martin came back to radio with his afternoon (3p-7p) show.

Russ Martin’s Charges

The police of Southlake, Texas, caught Russ Martin while at Larry North Fitness on July 18, 2008, for charges of Aggravated assault-bodily injury-deadly weapon after an incident happening on July 14, 2008, concerning his ex-girlfriend Mandy Blake.

Martin was accused of pulling Mandy’s hair, beating her, and brandishing a pistol.
