Another Talent Lost, American Actor Scoey Mitchell Passed Away

Unfortunately, we received the news that famous American actor, writer, and TV director Scoey Mitchell passed away on Saturday(19 March 2022) at the age of 92. He achieved fame by starring in 1970s shows and TV programs.

Scotty Mitchell was also an adroit stand-up comedian who performed in the popular sitcom version of Neil Simon‘s Barefoot in the Park. He also produced two well-known NBC TV series, Me and Mrs. C and 13 East, and starred as Richard Pryor’s father in the film Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling.

Famous jazz artist Billy Mitchell, Scotty’s brother, confirmed his death and on Facebook stated:

” He had a very successful and colorful career during the 70s and 80s as an actor, writer, and film director. He sacrificed much in the struggle to get blacks behind the camera, into production, and into positions that are taken for granted today. It’s important to remember those few that opened up the doors for so many!”
