The heartbreaking news was confirmed by a friend of the beloved star, Mark Darlington, who made the statement on Facebook on Thursday, June 9, 2022, reading, “Sonni Balli how could you do this bro! I wished you a happy birthday just this past Monday!”

The statement added, “This is not fair! I am devastated and heartbroken! How???”
The news shocked everyone, particularly since Sonni Balli celebrated his birthday on Monday, June 6. The artist was born in Sonny Kwabena Amoako Akoanor and kicked off his music career when he was only 17, just after singing in church.
Although his parents did not agree with the determination, Sonni decided to make his start in the industry. His first experience of victory came at the age of 18 when he was found by American-based producer, Nana King who performed with him on his first single.

He then began a musical group named ‘G Life’ with three other friends. The group made two victorious albums together called; Kotoho-‘take a bow’ and Abrabo in Ghana- ‘Life in Ghana’ but separated soon after.
For another few years after ‘G Life’, Sonny carried on making successful partnerships with great Ghanaian artists including Mary Agyapong on a hit single called Adede meaning ‘sweet taboo’.
He additionally teamed up with other artists like Slim Buster on the single ‘Georgina’ as well as collaborations with Lord Kenya to name a few. In 2001, Sonny migrated to England to expand his musical opportunities.

After a few years of networking, Sonni Balli teamed up with London-based producer, Eugene Nartey and CEO of ‘Bad Habbit’ records Bright Okah to begin work on his debut album entitled ‘First Scene Second’.
A singer, songwriter, poet, and avid storyteller, Sonni Balli incorporated all his talents in his debut album while successfully managing to balance the traditional with the contemporary. His songs were drawn from his personal life experiences and his guiding Rastafarian principles.
Also good to mention that, a Canadian retired actor, well best known as the voice of Alan Tracy in the 1960s TV series Thunderbirds, Matt Zimmerman passed away on June 22, 2022, at the age of 87.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by Morgan Jeffery in a statement shared on Twitter, reading, “Another @GerryAndersonTV legend has left us. Very sad to hear that Matt Zimmerman – the voice of Thunderbirds’ Alan Tracy – has passed away, aged 87.”
He was born in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, and educated in Detroit, Michigan; the beloved star kicked off acting when he was a teenager and attended Bowling Green State University, becoming a telecommunications major.
