Pivot Gang’s Producer Squeak’s Cause of Death at 26
DJ and in-house producer for Pivot Gang passed away tragically at the age of 26. Squeak’s cause of death was revealed by the Tribe on Monday, August 16.
Although no official cause of death has been reported, there are rumors that Squeak passed away in a fatal shooting on Monday evening. The Chicago Police Department did not respond to a request for confirmation of this report.
Squeak’s death follows the death of fellow Pivot Gang member John Walt who was stabbed to death during a fight on the West Side of Chicago in 2017.
SqueakPIVOT was a staple producer in the Chicago-based rap collective Pivot Gang, along with other producers Daedae and Daoud. Squeak and MFnMelo recently teamed up to release “En Route,” which arrived this June.
In an interview, Squeak revealed how he entered the professional music industry. “I had just gotten out of high school, and I just started getting in trouble and ended up on house arrest,” the DJ said in 2017.
Squeak continued: “So my brother FRSH Waters was just like ‘Aye bro, just go down the street and f – – k with [Pivot Gang].’ So, I just started taking them to the studio. I was literally taking them to the studio. I just felt like I needed to do something. I always knew I was gonna do something; I just never knew what.”

Fans Searching for Squeak’s Cause of Death
While many fans are searching for Squeak’s cause of death, there isn’t any official detail surrounding his death cause at this time. His family also has not released any statement surrounding Squeak’s death.

Squeak’s uncle, Darion S. Hood, was one of two men who passed away in a shooting that happened on Monday in the 5000 block of West St. Paul Avenue, near his home in Austin.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Darion’s identity in the shooting on Monday evening. According to other reports, the second victim was 26 years old, and The producer’s family members have confirmed that the second victim was Squeak.
According to a Chicago Police Department report, victims sustained gunshot wounds to the body by an unknown armed man. They both were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, but unfortunately, they were later pronounced dead.
Squeak’s first solo EP, En Route, was released in June with features from Dinnerwithjohn (John Walt), Frsh, Kobe Jordan, and Rexx Life Raj. “I’m about to release my first body of work outside of the Pivot album, Squeak said at that time.
“I just got through shooting my first video and sh–, like, I’ma be rapping,” Squeak told Rome J. back in September 2020. “I ain’t on no P. Diddy shit neither. I won’t be dancing. I’m a lowkey nigga, and I like being low key,” he added.
The young producer said he wanted listeners and fans to hear a different sound than what he was known for with the band. “I guess people be used to hearing like the super-smooth sh– all the time but this [the] hardest sh– I got,” he said.

Reactions to Pivot Gang’s Squeak’s Death
After the sad news of Squeak’s death broke online, devasted fans, friends, and fellow artists took to social media to pay touching tribute to him. Chance the Rapper wrote on Twitter: “God bless squeak and everyone that loves him. Great man.”
One of the founders of the Pivot Gang collective is Saba, who collaborated with Chance the Rapper. Rapper Saba has not publicly commented on Squeak’s passing.
Record producer Thelonious Martin wrote on Twitter: “Rest in power, Squeak. Love to all of Pivot Gang.”
One fan retweeted: “Squeak literally DJ’d my first solo event! He reached out to me and saw my flyer had no DJ, and you reached out to me 2 days before and told me he’d do it. That meant the world to me🥺 I’m so sorry man, I can’t believe this.”
Squeak leaves behind his daughter Zhuri and his older brother Frsh Waters, who is one of the co-founders of the group.
