We are so sad to announce that Arsenal’s head groundsman Steve Braddock, unfortunately, passed away on August 19, 2022, at the age of 52; May the beloved legend rest in peace.

We send our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and fans during the tough period.

The club has confirmed the heartbreaking news, announcing that black armbands will be worn in Saturday’s game against Bournemouth to honor the late star.

They also shared a statement, reading, “Our thoughts are with Steve’s wife Shuk, their daughters Jasmine and Lily, Steve’s sisters Janice and Susan, and all Steve’s family and friends.”

Braddock entered the Gunners in 1987 after an unexpected meeting with ex-manager George Graham – who required someone to look after the team at Highbury. He succeeded in his job and was awarded the Premier League Pitch of the Season award on multiple occasions; Steve additionally won ‘Turf’s Top Influencer’ in 2019.

After a year in 2020, he became only the second person in history to join the Grounds Management Association’s Hall of Fame.

Steve came to fame for his efforts on the Highbury turf before switching to the Emirates, while he additionally served on the 11 pitches at London Colney, Arsenal’s training ground.

Steve Braddock Passed Away Due to an Illness

    Steven Braddock was 58 when he died which of course is still far too young. Was a family friend. Rest in peace.
