Fans Mourn Still Game Star Stevie Allen’s Sudden Death
With deep sadness, we inform you of Stevie Allen’s death at the age of 78. The actor who was best known for playing Manky Frankie in Still Game passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023.
Stevie Allen appeared on the hit sitcom from 2002-2004. He made his debut appearance in season one, after the show faves Jack and Victor chap his door after finding a dead neighbor.
The talented star appeared in a string of other shows including Macbeth and Taggart. Following his short stint on the classic sitcom, Allen went on to become a paramedic with the Scottish Ambulance Service.
With colleagues taking to social media to pay tributes, One wrote: “Stevie Allen unfortunately died yesterday. He was a Paramedic with us and will be a huge loss. What a legend of a guy.”
Jane McCarry paid touching tribute to Stevie, who she first met during her first year at Glasgow’s King’s Park Secondary where he worked as a science technician.
Jane, 52, who played Still Game‘s gossip Isa Drennan, said: “I’m so sad to hear this news. I’ve known him since I was 12. He worked in my school as a science technician in the early 80’s.
“Then I used to see him at Glasgow Arts Centre. He was a fantastic guy, so genuine and full of fun.”
Another wrote: “He used to come into the pub I worked in a few years ago in Jedburgh. Lovely bloke.”

Actor Stevie Allen’s death was announced on March 2023, but his cause of death has not been revealed at this time. May he rest in peace.
Greg Hemphill, who plays pensioner Victor McDade, paid respect to the late star. Hemphill said: “Gutted to hear the news that Stevie Allen has sadly passed away. He was out with us only briefly on Still Game, but boy did he leave an impression.”
He wrote: “Very sorry to hear about the death of Sweet Stevie. A lovely man indeed. Very memorable as Manky Franky in Still Game.”
Meanwhile Tom Urie – who appeared as biscuit-hating mammy’s boy Martin alongside Stevie Allen in the 2003 episode Brief – also bade farewell to his showbiz pal.
The 54-year-old actor and entertainer wrote: “I knew Stevie at the very start of my career at the Byre Theatre in St Andrews. He was a lovely guy and a great actor.”
Presenter Matthew Wright said: “Very apologetic to hear out this – however fair idea process about Manky Frankie brings a smile to the face all the same. RIP Stevie x”.
Actor Colin McCredie added: “A lovely guy. A year above me at the Academy. Did a few Taggarts with him too.”
